A booth business that sells itself like a creative studio

Velvet Rail suits the owner-run photo booth hire company whose real product is the experience, not the hardware. It fits weddings, birthdays and boutique brand events, where a couple or a small marketing team picks a supplier because the brand feels personal and a little crafted. It sits closest to a small team, one or two booths and an attendant who travels with them, working a local or regional patch.

The opening screen puts a person behind the camera rather than a product shot or a sample print. That matters if your pitch is the hosted service: the friendly attendant, the props, someone running the queue so the guests don't have to. Slate is aimed at corporate clients and Sage Static sells the quality of the print guests take home. Velvet Rail is the one to pick when the thing you're really selling is your studio's personality and the people who turn up on the night.

What the opening screen already does

What you get is one finished opening screen, the first thing a visitor sees. It has your logo, a navigation row of four items with the current page marked, a large three-line title and a single photograph. The title is the core of the design. Each line is set in a different style, and the middle word is the biggest and boldest, so the second word of your headline is where the eye lands. Choose that word carefully, because it's the one people will remember.

The whole brand runs on one colour plus your photography. That makes rebranding quick: change one colour and the rail, text, menu marker and decorative marks all follow it.

The work between choosing it and taking bookings

Treat this as a strong first screen, not a finished site. The menu points to further pages, but none of them are designed here. So you'd build the pages that win bookings for a photo booth firm: packages and prices, a gallery of event photos, the booth types you offer (a 360 booth, which films guests from a camera that circles them, needs its own explanation) and an enquiry or availability form.

On the opening screen itself:

  • Photograph. The demo image shows a film-camera operator, not a booth. Replace it with a photo of your attendant or booth at an event. Shoot it against a bright, plain background, because the logo sits directly on the photo and needs a light area behind it to stay readable.
  • Title. The demo reads "Creative Photography Studio". Rewrite it as three short words, with the strongest one in the middle.
  • Logo and name. Swap in your own.
  • Contact. Most enquiries for event hire come from people checking a date. You'd add a phone number or a "check availability" button to the opening screen, since the template doesn't include one.

If you have good event photography and a brand worth showing off, the opening screen is mostly a copy and photo swap. Most of your effort will go into the booking pages behind it.
